Welcome to Wheeler Education
With the right understanding and guidance, every child can thrive.
With the right understanding and guidance, every child can thrive.
I am committed to fostering educational success for all children, with a particular focus on those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Based in Devon, my mission is to provide affordable, high-quality support tailored to each pupil’s individual needs.
I believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive both academically and personally. My assessment and consultancy practice is designed to identify strengths, clarify barriers to learning, and provide clear, proportionate, and evidence-based recommendations that enable pupils to succeed.
I offer a range of specialist services, including autism screening, psycho-educational assessment, and cognitive and ability assessment, which are used to inform next steps for families, schools, and statutory processes. Whether you are a parent seeking specialist support for your child, or an educational setting seeking expert advice, my work is focused on providing robust professional formulation and practical, sustainable strategies that support meaningful progress. My aim is to unlock potential, strengthen provision, and make a demonstrable difference to outcomes for children and young people.
About Me
My professional career began with a background in psychology, specialising in the assessment and support of pupils with autism. This foundation has shaped my practice and established a long-standing commitment to ensuring that children and young people with SEND receive high-quality, evidence-based assessment and proportionate support. My professional values are also informed by personal experience of SEND, which has strengthened my understanding of the lived realities faced by families and deepened my commitment to inclusive practice and meaningful advocacy.
Over the past twenty years, I have worked as a teacher, SENDCo, school leader, and system-level adviser. I am currently a headteacher, SENDCo and Trust-wide adviser for SEND and Psychological Assessment and have led significant school improvement work in the areas of SEND and inclusion. In these roles, I have supported numerous children, families, and schools, both directly and through trust-level and local authority-facing work. I have provided strategic advice to schools across Cornwall and Devon, helping to strengthen provision, remove barriers to learning, and develop approaches that enable pupils to flourish.
Beyond operational leadership, I have been active in educational research, contributing to a publication that supported the reframing of autism assessment. This work reflects my commitment to evidence-based practice and to the ethical use of assessment as a tool for empowerment rather than limitation.
Alongside my trust role, I lead Wheeler Education as a specialist consultancy focused on psycho-educational assessment and professional formulation in SEND contexts. My work includes the production of tribunal-grade specialist reports and professional opinion that is used to inform statutory decision-making, mediation, and appeal processes. I offer availability during weekends and school holidays and provide services ranging from initial consultation and professional advice to comprehensive specialist assessment.
Whether working with families, schools, or statutory bodies, my aim is always to deliver high-quality, ethical, and proportionate assessment and consultancy that supports meaningful outcomes and strengthens long-term provision for children and young people with SEND.
